Stanton Missouri https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanton,_Missouri
We didn't really do much but drive on this day. I was hoping that we could get one more sight seeing adventure in. I saw a sign that Meramec Caverns were still open until 1800, so we headed there. It also turned out be our stopping place for the day as we checked into the KOA campground at Stanton, Missouri. So our day started out pretty much in Staunton, Illinois on Route 66 and ended in Stanton, Missouri.
Meramec Caverns suffered from flooding. It had been open only a week and a half after a drastic clean up effort. http://www.americascave.com
I am happy we made this stop.
The flood made it over the ticket windows, which are actually the highest point in the cave.

An ode to moonshiners....
Too fat to fit in the cabin....
Statues depicting the legend of Jessie James hiding out in the cave...
After the cave, we walked around the grounds with our doggies...
Our rest over for the night...
Suyen didn't feel like fixing anything, so we opted for KFC...
Our camp ground...
