20231004 Wednesday The Night Shift

An abandoned apartment building on Kansas City’s northeast neighborhood went up in flames in a spectacular fashion as the rain crept in.

I go out to Grandview to check out a shooting call.

20231003 Tuesday The Night Shift

Nothing much was happening overnight.  There was a small deck or patio fire in the northland.  There was a report of a dead body which I wasn't able to follow up on, also in the northland.  A small fire outside of the Library lofts set off the alarms and sprinkler system which caused and evacuation of the building.  I was  assigned to do bump back shots of Arrowhead with all the concerts there lately and maybe more to come.  Then I got sent to breaking news in northern Overland Park, Kansas as a stand off was happening between the police and a barricaded subject in some apartments.

A concert at Arrowhead created a huge traffic jam at 01:00.  I was caught up in the middle of it.

20231001 Hot October 1st

It is a very warm summer day on October First.  We spent yesterday in watching movies including “The Pacific.”  Today is errands day and taking our poor cabin fevered dawgs to Parkville.

20230929 Friday The Night Shift

A bad chemical smell causes a warehouse to be evacuated in the Northeast Bottoms of Kansas City, Missouri.

What is interesting is the use of a rescue airboat by the Kansas City, Missouri Fire department to try to ventilate the large building.

We are live, yet again at the General Motors Fairfax plant.  Yet again I lament on the middle-of-nowhere nature of this liveshot when it comes to public facilities.  GM Fairfax has become a lonely place since the plant has been closed down due to the strike.

20220928 Thursday Evening the River Quay

This evening is in-seasonably pleasant.  It is like a summer evening without the muggyness and the buggyness.  I’m spending part of it in the River Quay.
