Of course, the doggies sat there and did nothing....
Badly posing for my first route 66 selfie...
The dogs are enthusiastic about posing in front of that map...
Suyen is trying out the kitchen for the first time...
We really weren't in route 66 mode yet. We still had to make it to Chicago where we will go to the start of the route and start following it west. In the morning we depart and have some interstate driving to do to get to Chicago...

A tribute to the troops with military vehicles on display on the grounds of the Liberty Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri
We parked in the Crossroads Arts District and enjoyed a little music from the Brian Hicks Trio before heading to Union Station.
We made sure the doggies took care of bidness before going in. We did not take the dogs with us but left them in the camper with the fan on. The loud booms of the howitzers and fireworks are too traumatizing for critters. We recommend from experience that you leave the pooches in a safe place and don't take them to the celebration. It is too rough on them and could lead to an unpleasant experience. There are no dog bans at this event, but it is not a good idea to bring them along.
The music and variety performance at Union Station hosted by various corporate donors and KCPT has become an annual Memorial Day Weekend tradition in Kansas City, highlighted by a performance of the 1812 Overture and fireworks at Liberty Memorial.
