You are traveling on the Jefferson Highway... I think...

Jefferson Highway

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So I've been trying to do some research on the Jefferson Highway in Clay and Jackson counties by looking at old maps.  I can't exactly tell where the highway crossed through the city in the 1920's.  I'm almost inclined to believe that it really didn't, because once you got on city streets, there was no need for highway designations in town, you just sort of found your way through and picked up the highway on the other side of town.  However, some of the maps I've looked at sort of indicate that the highway came over the river via the ASB bridge, took a left heading east at Admiral, then took a right at Paseo, heading south before intersecting Linwood making a left turn and heading east towards Leeds, where it exited the city heading southeast.  I have been working on a map that I will try to follow, I'm sure with many corrections to come....

The old Traffic light on Linwood is definitely a relic from another era....
Linwood curves to the northeast by the VA hospital.  Here it meets up with a complex of intersections south of I-70/US 40.  I think this at one time was a major interchange on the east side of town.  Jefferson Highway, according to the old county maps I've seen, heads southeast from here at leeds.
I have to get off the old highway, and head north to Truman road to get to the junk yard.
I got off on the wrong ramp and ended up on the west side of the Blue River.  This area is intersting.  There is a rough bar here under the bridge.
I had no luck finding what I was looking for -- a step bumper for Melba...
I decided to head south off of Truman on Paseo, as I believe this might be the path the Jefferson Highway took through Kansas City to Linwood.  It goes right past the 18th and Vine district, which would make the Jefferson Highway, in many ways a Jazz Highway, as it connects some major centers of Jazz -- New Orleans, Kansas City, Minneapolis and Winnipeg.

Time to take the doggies to the Penn Valley dawg park..
I went to Westport Coffee House to get caught up on my journals...
Then to walk the doggies around the block so they could take care of bidness, then to pick up Suyen and head home.
