We went to one of the beach shops to look for swim wear. It was too touristy and expensive. It is better to just go to a Wal*Fart or Tarjay. We don't need that schtuff anyway.
We stopped at a Filipino restaurant, which happens to be the closest restaurant to where we are staying...
The only bad thing is we lost our extra key fob here:(
The vittles here were delicious.....
After Corpus Christ, we went south on the coast as far as you can go and still be in the USA -- that is South Padre Island, Texas. Our next door neighbor at the KOA who is from San Antonio recommended that we go down there. It's only four hours away. So we took him up on his advice.
You see dolphins on the dolphin tour, imagine that!
It is almost like they know we are watching and they are showing off!
Looking back on our craft.
Luke is fascinated!
Zack is playing with his spyglasses...
Siah is more interested in her dog fish....
I believe they call this dolphin point. Dolphins come here to feed and play as separate currents from different channels merge here and make this a good feeding ground.
King of the World!
This is the pirate tour from Port Isabel.
This is the track of our route out into the channel. We could even see the old lighthouse across the border into Mexico as well as the Space X launch pad.
Port Lavaca, Texas
After our Dolphin tour, we bugged out and pretty much spent the day driving. Part of it, unfortunately was on a main highway. We got off that and found a nice coastal road. Then we found ourselves in a nice little not so touristy town of Port Lavaca Texas.
The Lighthouse Beach across from our motel room is a quiet not so wavy beach which the kids enjoyed after waking up.
We all enjoyed the birding trail, which is a great little easy hike.
Galveston
Our goal for the day was to make it to Galveston Island. We accomplished that easily with a nice drive, and spent a good part of the afternoon on a not crowded beach. The people next to us were a really nice family with lots of kids who were originally from Estes Park in Colorado, but were now relocated to Galveston. Their day had them share their boogey boards with our kids.
Jimmy loves playing fetch. He forgets all about his fear of the water...
Dawgs chillaxin' on the beach.
Much appreciated borrowed boogey boards...
Aunt Suyen with her "babies"
We found Galveston to be mostly closed this Monday night. We went to the 61st Street fishing pier. It is 3 dollars to get in and 12 to fish all day. Dogs are not allowed in so we went to the areas we could to get a peek.
Lots of fish can be seen due to the bright lights around the pier.
