I forgot to included a map of yesterdays route....
See the USA in your.... Navion!
When we traveled cross country as kids in 1973 (including parts of route 66) this was a jingle I remember us singing on the way....
Philippine consulate in downtown Chicago, which was the goal of our last trip here. I had to go in circles until Suyen's business was done the parking was so bad here.....
The long trek back, which is sort of a race as we were trying to get back to the Navion before we got a ticket...
Interesting architecture...
It doesn't look like a long walk, but with stops, it was...
Dog tired ... FLOP!
Suyen created these montages...
And we're off!
I try to snap googie on the way....
McCooks googie sign looks familiar, somehow...
This detour pisses me off.....
and begins the drive ins and kitsch....
Joliet, which used to be called Juliet. There is a Romeoville close by....
Screen grab as we pass by the home of the Blues Brothers.....
Joliet has a nice downtown. We didn't stop though...

The best time to drive for me is at dusk. The weather is usually very pleasant and the light is gorgeous. It is a time to reflect and meditate on the beauty around you....
Sunset on 66!
On the way up, I noticed a sign for a 4H county campground outside Pontiac Illinois. I figured this would be a good stop, and a great place to begin as I wanted to visit the museum when it was open.
Suyen loves the Navions kitchen...
Our tracker map of our journey so far...
