Route 66: Spring 2012

One Long Main Street

I want to use this page as a summary of the sights and sounds and people we found on our first extensive trip on Route 66 in the southwestern US in the spring of 2012.

I put together a compilation of the videos we shot while on the trip...

The inspiration for this trip began long ago. However, more recently, some trips we made also spurred our interest in taking the route as a vacation.....

This trip included some side trips on route 66.

In March, we planned a day trip to Joplin, Missouri, which also turned into a trip on Route 66 in Missouri, Kansas, and part of Northeast Oklahoma...

Never Forget

Has it been six years? Somehow the tragedy of the collapse of the Elks Club in downtown Clinton, Missouri, and the way the small town rallied to help out seems like it took place only last year.

We got up to explore the neighborhood, get our walk and possibly some brunch. Thanks again to Mark and Russell for the place to stay. It was really nice and relaxing to be able to leave at our leisure. Nob Hill is a mix of old and new. The new stuff imitates the old in many cases.

We are walking around the Nob Hill neighborhood of Albuquerque thinking about lunch. Our friends Mark and Russell let us stay in their studio aprtment which is in a converted court motel. We shall be heading back soon towards home. Suyen is contemplating a Filipino joint.
