It was a gorgeous day outside, and Ken and I were taking a walk with Tima.  We met a friend of ours, artist Ryan Haralson...

We started our walk at YJ's.  Just for fun, I'm including a scan of this that has been hanging up in YJ's for some time...

We passed by the businesses next door which are very colorful

We visited the Barney Allis Plaza area.  When Ken moved to KC in the late 70's, he said this was supposed to be the new center of town...

This was once the Tivoli Burlesque Theater, and the block where it sits was a notorius district of peep shows and jazz clubs.  They were forced out in the mid-70's when the area was being redeveloped.
Only the Tivoli survives as a restored theater.

We finished our walk, where we started, at YJ's.  Ken had to go to work, and I took Ryan to his studio in the west bottoms.  We were to come back to attend the performance happening at the Fishtank.

We stopped in at Jasski's -- a new hooka place/smokeshop and soon to be coffeeshop.

Ryan has some work on display there, and had to pick some things up on his way to his studio..

We headed back up to 18th and Wyandotte, in hopes of getting some pictures of the performance at the Fishtank, but when we got there (late), the door was closed and locked.  So, instead, here is a scan of the handbill on the door...

Friday morning, (18 March 2011), I attended a meeting held at YJ's with Frannie Knight on the Emerald City Project.

She was describing the project to a few people on a piece of plastic spread out on the table like a tablecloth...
