It is such a remarkable experience to travel from one destination to another and enjoying whole day long trip. Great post!

Glenrio is the best! Hope it can somehow always survive.
Also some self hypocrisy: I hate people who strip buildings ESPECIALLY SIGNAGE (just look at what's happened to Ludlow, CA on 66 -- even the film industry ruined buildings there. BUT...
... I have to admit that I took that top left corner piece off that white with green porcelain enamel gas station at the very top of your pics, because the property is not signed and it is clearly headed for destruction. It is my one Route 66 souvenir after completing three trip over thirty years. And yes to everyone out there, the Mother Road HAS changed... just look at housing built right long the winding hillsides of the Route in Southeastern Missouri. Greatest loss of the past fifty years: the Coral Court Motel on the western edge of St. Louis that even the National Trust attempted to save. Quote from a foreign tourist: "what kind of country would destroy a landmark that draws visitors from around the world? And to replace it with just more of the same old junk!!"
