This was technically not the mayor's last day, however it is the last legislative session that Mayor Funkhouser presided over. Family, friends and supporters were invited upstairs to the 29th floor for a little party and get together. Camera Krewe was present to document the event, and to give Mayor Funkhouser some artwork created by local artists. While waiting for the marathon legislative session to end, we toured the rooftop observation deck. We went down to the legislative session afterward to get the final banging of the gavel and the end of Mark Funkhousers last session with the city council. I got a few comments with Mr. Funkhouser on the artwork. In a post script, one of the last official duties that Mayor Mark Funkhouser did was to veto a controversial piece of legislation that would allow for the building of a high rise office building in the historic plaza shopping district.
