As you may read in my Being Arty section, a few vocal people want to have a beloved Kansas City statue removed permanently. I did an opinion page about it here.
I think most people love it. It gives a smile, and communicates clearly with it's audience. However, I think a lot of public art opponents and some city officials/elected leaders with questionable art taste want to see it removed and would like to see it replaced with either nothing, or with something safe and abstract and probably boring. It will be interesting to see who will get their way.
