"The problem with Americans is that they do not realize they are losing the war"
"What do you mean, we are winning in Afghanistan and Iraq?"
"No, not that war. Americans a losing the revolutionary war..."
So what am I blathering about? I am talking about the issue of corporate personhood. I believe it is the single biggest threat to our country, our freedoms and our rights. I don't see it as being even on the radar of groups such as the Tea Party. In fact, I see the Tea Party as supporting a corporatist agenda that would subvert the liberties of individuals to the rights of these "super citizens." The Fourteenth Amendment of the constitution has in fact created two classes of citizens in this country -- a class that enjoys special protections from the government, and the rest of us. So, if you believe that corporations having special protected rights that the rest of us might not have access to is a good idea, then think about this. Most corporations now are multi-national, meaning that we the people are giving rights and access essentially to foreign entities. So in many ways, our country, our government and our rights may be bought, sold, owned and held within the grasp of overseas entities, including foreign governments. Who would knowingly sell the sovereignty of their country for the sake of saving some corporations a few bucks in tax breaks? Do things seem like they are taking an unreasonable turn in this land of ours?
