Ken and I, after leaving Kansas City late, take a nice drive in the country in Betsy, towards Plattsburg, Missouri.

I didn't get what they meant by "president for a day," but then I read the history...

Ken and I walked west after touring downtown to look at some of the houses in Plattsburg.

We arrived at the west side of town where the main road into town forks at a real estate office, which has always been a memorable landmark for me...

I also noticed a nice mid-century modern animal clinic

I love mid-century post and beam construction...
IMG_1561
and even the more post-modern variants of that style...

as we found later in a dental clinic.  Also, on the same road, we found a large log on display at a lumber yard...
IMG_1567IMG_1568
and, of course, more gorgeous "painted lady" victorian homes...

We also found a collection of old luxury automobiles, oh, and a Rambler from the 60's..

A Packard and a Lincoln limo

all displayed with an antique fuel pump with gas at 14 cents a gallon.
Then back to more sights...

Including this patriotic display, that I can only describe as an american flag sputnik...

We went to get a coke at a place called JJ's Bar. They only had poopsie though, but the place was very friendly, and we even met the Mayor of Plattsburg.
