This trip has gone like a well oiled machine if that machine were a rusted out old Vega and it is well oiled because it uses more oil than gas.  We rushed yesterday only to realize I screwed up the itinerary.  First rule of the route is that if you take the route, throw out the itinerary.  Checking in and out of motels takes way too much time.  Last night we had to go 18 miles south of the route in Clarenden to find a decent room.  We would have stayed in Shamrock but all the rooms were booked due to a charity concert.  We missed seeing the Sand Hills Curiosity shop opened as we got there too late.

We have finally made it to Adrian, Texas, for lunch and "ugly crust pies."  We stopped here at the Midpoint Cafe among numerous other tourists who stopped off the highway to eat and shop and take pictures.  We passed through here last in early May 2012.  Only, this time, the cafe is officially open.  I talked to Dennis who was really busy this time around, so our talk was quite brief.  He is excited about a new midpoint park they are building across the street.  I talked with Fran Houser (the former owner of the Midpoint Cafe) who has opened her store in the old gas station next door.  It too was a brief talk as Suyen was in a hurry to get moving along since we spent so much time here.  The wait for the pies was worth it.
