Litchfield Illinois

I take the doggies out for the morning walk and exploration...
I assidently stepped on Stella's tail on the way out of the Navion...
We left a patch of fur on the steps....

Stella's Chill Pill....
Giving Stella her doggie sedative for the trip...
She loves the cheese but spits out the pill...
So we have to insist...
She needs her doggie sedative.  It really helps and she didn't get sick on this trip like she usually does...
Jimmy is concerned and a bit anxious that we weren't gonna give him some cheese...
I need a drink...
Why does this water taste funny?
We pass another Navion on the way back through town...
Downtown Litchfield Illinois...

We came to Henry's Rabbit Ranch...

Dawgs stay outside because there are rabbits inside...

Richard Henry of Henry's Rabbit Ranch

I've got a wild hare...
There's another rabbit you can ride in Joseph City Arizona...

And we are on our way after a nice visit and talk with Henry...

St. Louis Missouri
After crossing the Chain of Rocks bridge, we come into St. Louis Missouri.  We didn't stop at Chain of Rocks as we have done that on previous trips...

Crossing St Louis on Route 66 exposes you to some wonderful architecture and layering of eras...

Crossing by the west side of downtown...

Heading southwest out of St. Louis...

We didn't really do much but drive on this day.  I was hoping that we could get one more sight seeing adventure in.  I saw a sign that Meramec Caverns were still open until 1800, so we headed there.  It also turned out be our stopping place for the day as we checked into the KOA campground at Stanton, Missouri.  So our day started out pretty much in Staunton, Illinois on Route 66 and ended in Stanton, Missouri.
Meramec Caverns suffered from flooding.  It had been open only a week and a half after a drastic clean up effort.

I am happy we made this stop.
The flood made it over the ticket windows, which are actually the highest point in the cave.
Neon in a cave...
An ode to moonshiners....

Too fat to fit in the cabin....

Statues depicting the legend of Jessie James hiding out in the cave...

After the cave, we walked around the grounds with our doggies...

Our rest over for the night...

Suyen didn't feel like fixing anything, so we opted for KFC...

Our camp ground...

Doggies enjoying "Kamp K9"
Mmmmm.... vittles....
